Mission:
Athletics at St. James Catholic School work to support the school mission by providing a Christ-centered environment where the student athlete can learn sport fundamentals, gain self-confidence, work together with a team and achieve success. We hope to teach and demonstrate to our student athletes the value of good sportsmanship, virtues, hard work, fair play, and a positive attitude.
The Athletic Program, as established at St. James Catholic School, is an extracurricular organization under the direction of the Athletic Committee. It is open to all youth either enrolled in the school or an active member of St. James Parish.
Programs Offered:
St. James Sports Programs begin in July and continue throughout the school year until June. We offer many sports for all grade levels. Click on the "Sports" tab to see a breakdown of each sport and who it is offered to. Additional information will be provided by coaches once each season begins.
Requirements:
Forms needed to participate in St. James Athletics include: Current physical within one year of end of sport season, Health/Emergency Information Form, and the Registration Form. The St. James Handbook must be read before registering for athletics. This handbook will be made available at the beginning of the school year.
As an Archdiocese of Louisville School, we participate within the Catholic Schools Athletics Association (CSAA) for several sports. St. James teams also play local county and Christian schools as well as intramural sports.
Fees:
Our athletic fees collected at the beginning of each sport cover the use of uniforms, equipment, field/court maintenance, league fees, officials and other expenses. Our athletic program also relies on the volunteer spirit of parents and friends. Our volunteers serve as coaches, team parents, game support, concession stand & gate workers, and support personnel. Starting with the 2018-2019 school year a $20 volunteer fee will be added to the athletics fees for each sport. The volunteer fee will be paid back once volunteer obligations have been fulfilled or used to pay extra volunteers when a position is left unfilled.
